It’s that time of the year again; how did the US give in 2021? Each June, The Giving USA Foundation releases the updated Giving USA Report. Learn about the biggest trends in our sector with the longest-running study on charitable giving. This session will be led by Ryan Woroniecki, chair of Resource Development for The Giving USA Foundation.
During this session, Ryan will share new headlines and our local panelists will compare their own experiences with national numbers. This is the first year we will analyze all of this through the lens of Donor Advised Funds with the new DAF Chapter.

Speaker’s biographies:
Ryan Woroniecki, Advisor, DonorSearch
Ryan Woroniecki is an advisor at DonorSearch, the industry leader in AI/ML, prospect research, and wealth screening. He has helped over a thousand nonprofits with various prospect development efforts. His expertise ranges from donor segmentation, prospect management, qualification, individual gift planning, and relationship management. He is a former APRA-MD board member and currently chairs resource development for The Giving USA Foundation and is on the board of Giving Institute. He attends NC State and recently moved to Durham.
Sherry DeVries, Executive Director, Durham Arts Council
Sherry DeVries is Executive Director of the Durham Arts Council since 2002 with 39 years of leadership in arts and cultural institutions. She has led major initiatives including the Durham Cultural Master Plan; the Durham SmART Initiative – a creative place-making program for downtown Durham; arts economic impact studies; reorganization and successful revitalization of 2 arts agencies; international marketing and public relations for the Field Museum of Natural History; and redevelopment work for Navy Pier, Chicago. She received the Illinois “Governor’s Award for the Arts” in 1999. In 2013, Ms. DeVries was recognized by the City of Durham annual Women’s Leadership Forum Awards, and in 2014 was selected for the Women of Achievement Award by Durham Magazine. In her arts career, she has raised over $20 million dollars to support arts and culture from the public and private sectors. She holds a Bachelor of Arts & Master’s degrees in Arts & Entertainment Management. DeVries currently serves on the Board of Arts North Carolina.
The Durham Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and local arts agency dedicated to supporting the arts in Durham and the entire Triangle Region in North Carolina and has served the community since 1954. Annually DAC serves over 400,000 visitors and program participants, over 2,000 artists, and more than 300 arts and cultural organizations through classes, artist residencies, exhibits, festivals, grants programs, technical support, creative economy initiatives, arts advocacy, and information services.
Natalia Siegel, Senior Donor Engagement Officer, Triangle Community Foundation
As a Senior Donor Engagement Officer of the Triangle Community Foundation, Natalia works with fundholders, Giving Circles, and corporate giving to achieve the impact they want to see in the Triangle. She aims to provide connections between the fundholder and non-profits and cultivate relationships across the diverse demographics in our community.
Natalia has worked with justice-missioned organizations for almost 10 years. A native New Yorker, Natalia lived in Washington DC and studied politics with a concentration in peace studies. After college, she ran an academic support program for DC middle school youth and volunteered in rural Colombia. Since making the Triangle her home in 2015, Natalia transitioned into non-profit fundraising, working at Duke University and an international healthcare organization.
In her free time, Natalia loves exploring the amazing local food scene, hanging out in the beautiful North Carolina nature with her rescue dog, and participating in a book club that focuses on authors of color.
Sarah Guidi, Director of Community Engagement, Triangle Community Foundation
As the Director of Community Engagement of the Triangle Community Foundation, Sarah provides strategic leadership for the Foundation to make a positive impact in the community. She fosters strong relationships with nonprofit, government, and corporate leaders to understand needs in the community and broker relationships to help address those needs.
Before joining the Foundation in 2019, Sarah worked with the Resourceful Communities Program of The Conservation Fund to support grassroots organizations in eastern North Carolina to leverage the natural resources in their communities to expand access to healthy foods and places to be physically active. Most recently, Sarah served as Managing Director of Greater Greater Washington, in Washington, DC where she helped build a new advocacy program, pushing for housing and land use policy reforms to address the growth and change in the region.
Sarah holds a master’s degree in social work from UNC-Chapel Hill, with a focus on policy and community systems, as well as a certificate in nonprofit management. She lives with her husband, Tim, and kids Theo and Linden, in Trinity Park in Durham.
