March is roaring in like a lion! I’m not referring to our mild Piedmont weather, I’m talking about the windfall of AFP Triangle activities going on this month!
If you have participated in our Mentoring Program recently, you may already know Christine Grant, who is chairing the program this year. Christine is a certified life and career coach with more than twenty years of nonprofit fundraising experience who is passionate about the positive impact of a mentoring relationship for both the mentor and the mentee. Our one-to-one mentoring program kicks off this month, and the ever-popular “speed-mentoring” events will return later this spring and in the fall.
Coffee ‘N’ Conversations is AFP Triangle’s award-winning series of coffeehouse conversations about diversity and inclusion in nonprofits and fundraising. Attracting and retaining fundraisers and donors of diverse backgrounds is one of the most important topics in our profession today, and we all have something valuable to gain from taking part in the thoughtful discussions generated at these events. Diversity Chair Tamara Watson is bringing great speakers to the series this year, starting this month with Diane Evia-Lanevi, founder of The Tomorrow Fund for Hispanic Students. Sign up and join the Conversation!
Among the many benefits of belonging to the Triangle Chapter of AFP is your eligibility to apply for and receive a scholarship to a number of chapter events and conferences. You have probably heard about the scholarships awarded by AFP International for attendance at the International Conference, but you may not be aware of the chapter scholarships offered by AFP Triangle for professional development and attendance at the statewide conference. View our scholarship opportunities and download the application. Scholarships Chair Michael Lowery would be happy to answer any of your questions (He’s a really nice guy!). If you are not currently a member, we offer membership scholarships as well!
Programs Chair April Anthony is doing a great job lining up interesting and interactive presentations. At the next chapter breakfast meeting on March 15, Michele Lynn will discuss how to communicate with impact and connect to our donors on an emotional level.
I hope to see you at more than one of our many activities in March!
Genevieve
