Summer Greetings!
It’s hard to believe that we are halfway through the summer and that the NC Philanthropy Conference is less than a month away – on August 11. We present this conference in conjunction with the Triad and Charlotte Chapters of AFP. This year we are hosting, and it will be at the Sheraton Imperial RTP. The past four conferences I have attended have been full of good speakers, networking opportunities, and vendor offerings. I hope you will attend this one in our own back yard! Click here to register today.
Our new President of AFP International, Andrew Watt, is flying into the Triangle to kick off the day’s activities with a special address, and Jocelyn Harmon will present a keynote address and master luncheon. There will be four sessions split among morning and afternoon, so there will be new training to appeal to you, no matter which field of fundraising you are practicing!
Our Conference Chair, Oshana Watkins, and her committees have been hard at work getting everything set up for this year’s event, and it promises to be one of the best! We also could use 10 to 15 volunteers on the day of the conference to act as room captains, and help with set up and clean up and for other duties. Please email our Conference Chair Oshana Watkins at oshana_watkins@yahoo.com.
We are offering our Fundamentals of Fundraising and CFRE Review courses on August 9 and 10, and both of these have always been popular classes to jump starting your career or reviewing for the CFRE certification exam. You can sign up for these classes at the conference site also!
Lastly, we are offering 10 scholarships to the NC Philanthropy Conference, and also for our Fundamentals of Fundraising and CFRE Review courses. Email Carol.Stymiest@gmail.com for an application. Looking forward to seeing you there!
MaryBeth Carpenter is President of the AFP Triangle Chapter, and Chief Library Fundraising Strategist for the NCSU Libraries.
