As the hottest days of summer are upon us, I can hardly believe that the year is more than half gone, and my tenure as AFP Triangle chapter president is more than half over. I continue to be amazed at what our chapter and indeed, my fellow fundraisers, accomplish in our community and beyond. Whether you’ve clicked here as a member, or as someone who’s considering joining AFP, I urge to you to continue advancing your career through the many professional development and networking opportunities offered through the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
And for those of you who aren’t yet members, what are you waiting for—join now!
Our local chapter is 240 strong, with many leading local nonprofits, institutions of higher education, and organizations large and small represented in our membership. Membership benefits include discounted rates to all our educational programs and valuable access to an ever-growing network of nonprofit professionals here in the Triangle area. Our chapter’s core activities help fulfill our mission of education, training, mentoring, research, credentialing, and advocacy. I have personally benefited through the relationships I’ve established at AFP and I think you will, too.
AFP International has made it even easier to join in several different membership categories. Young professionals who are just joining our ranks can take advantage of an introductory rate. Seasoned and retired fundraisers are encouraged to lend their expertise to our discussions as well, and are offered a special discount. Collegiate membership rates and special new rates for professionals in smaller nonprofit organizations make joining AFP a good value for everyone – so why not jump start your professional development today?

Have a great summer, and be sure to catch up with us at the NC Philanthropy Conference in August. See you there!
