Development Coordinator
Salary Range: $45,000–$60,000
The Development Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the National Humanities Center’s fundraising efforts. This position assists with donor relations, database management, campaign execution, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, along with experience in fundraising and donor management. This is a key development/fundraising position within the Institutional Advancement team and reports directly to the Development Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising
- Assist in the execution of fundraising efforts for key campaigns such as the Annual Fund, Planned Giving, the Scroop-Reid Child Care Bursary Fund, and the Library Endowment.
- Coordinate the design, production, and distribution of both print and digital fundraising materials to include case statements, donor and sponsor correspondence, fundraising email campaigns, and solicitation proposals.
- Update the NHC Raiser’s Edge donor database, ensuring accurate recording and documentation, reporting, and content management. This includes coordinating with the NHC Operations team to ensure accurate integration with the Financial Edge data management system.
- Provide consistent and accurate financial stewardship and reporting to donors; respond to donor inquiries with accurate and timely information and ensure appropriate allocation of donor funds.
- Manage relevant contact lists within Constant Contact for campaign outreach.
- Research and identify prospective new donors and sponsors and proactively initiate engagement.
- Provide assistance with management of the Institutional Sponsorship Program, including accurate oversight of sponsor database/contacts and outreach schedules, coordination with all relevant NHC departments and programs, and financial stewardship for sponsorship payments.
- Participate in and assist with special events and coordinate event-day logistics, including stewardship with donors and prospects in attendance.
Administration
- Manage key projects for the Institutional Advancement team as assigned.
- Assist in a variety of administrative support activities for the Institutional Advancement team, including maintaining vendor relationships, providing support for the Center’s social media activities, researching and developing constituent lists, and donor data management and reporting.
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven experience with fundraising, donor profiling, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Working knowledge of donor database management and utilization.
- Proficiency with Constant Contact, Airtable, Excel, and other data management tools preferable.
- Working knowledge of email design and distribution strategies.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Experience with and proficiency in problem solving and conflict resolution.
