Your Role:
As a Major Gifts Officer, you’ll be at the forefront of fostering meaningful relationships with major donors who share our vision. You’ll create and execute strategic initiatives to identify, cultivate, and secure significant gifts from individuals, churches, corporations, and foundations. Your work will directly impact the lives of children and families across our programs.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead Donor Stewardship:
- Manage a portfolio of 75 major donors, developing tailored strategies to enhance engagement and giving.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings, providing detailed follow-up and call reports.
- Build Relationships:
- Partner with leadership, staff, and volunteers to strengthen donor connections.
- Serve as an advocate for MHC, representing our mission to prospective donors and stakeholders.
- Recognition and Reporting:
- Create meaningful donor recognition and stewardship programs.
- Draft gift agreements and manage donor records in coordination with advancement staff.
- Expand Reach:
- Cultivate relationships within two United Methodist geographic districts.
- Engage with district leaders and local churches, including speaking engagements as needed.
- Support Advancement Goals:
- Participate in special events and assist with publicity efforts for major gifts.
Who You Are:
- Experienced: Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of successful experience in major gift acquisition or nonprofit development. Proven track record in securing major gifts.
- Skilled Communicator: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse audiences.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in donor management systems (Donor Perfect preferred) and strong organizational skills.
- Mission-Driven: Passionate about making a difference for children and families.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time, flexible schedule with occasional evenings, weekends, and travel required.
- Valid driver’s license, insurable by MHC, and a commitment to safety and professionalism.
