Position Title: Development Manager
Reports to: Executive Director
FLSA Status: Full-Time/Exempt
Supervises: Development Coordinator
Work Schedule: Available for a flexible schedule with regular parameters of agency business conducted: Monday-Friday from 8a-6:30p (some evening or weekend hours may apply)
Location/Remote Work: On-site in office, agency’s offices in Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender counties, and respective catchment service community; some flexibility with work-from-home/remote work based on organization needs.
Travel: Required locally, statewide and nationally to meet organizational needs.
Job Summary:
The Development Manager (DM) leads Carousel Child Advocacy’s (CCAC’s) day-to-day Development Operations. The DM manages grant writing/applications, the donor management software platform, donor recognition/relationships, and future endowment/planned giving program implementation. The DM also manages and assists the Development Coordinator with fundraising events and event subcommittees.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Four-year degree or higher in fundraising, marketing/social media, development, business management, or related field.
- Five (5) years’ experience in public or non-profit development management.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Expert experience with DonorPerfect or similar donor management software.
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office 365.
- Experience with Constant Contact, CANVA, WordPress, and event management software a plus.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal record, sex offender registry, drug screen, and finger printing.
- Access to reliable transportation, have a valid operator’s license and proof of vehicle insurance.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Certified Fund Raising Executive Certified (CFRE).
- Knowledge, training, and experience with non-profit development, event planning and management.
- Knowledge and experience developing/implementing/working with endowment and planned giving systems.
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintains NCA Child Advocacy Center Accreditation Standard for Agency Capacity by
- Ensure collaborative relationships with catchment area grants, donations, and fundraising event systems remain active, supportive, and viable, including Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging & Access (DEIBA) initiatives for intersectional community opportunities for increasing CCAC’s relationships with key stakeholders to assist with DEIBA initiatives.
- Collaborating with the Board Development Committee to ensure best-practice standards.
- Researching and implementing optimal funding/donor processes with the Leadership Team to ensure the agency’s ability to address community needs.
- They are collaborating, informing, and supporting Carousel’s Leadership and direct services Teams to obtain expert training, peer support, and academic exposure and highlights for forensic interviewing child abuse forensic medical expertise, trauma therapy, victim support advocacy, policy, and systems on a local, state and national stage.
- Ensure CCAC organizational efforts for efficient/effective case review, coordination, tracking child-focused setting, and safety/protection.
- Collaborate with the Board and Team to ensure organizational capacity, including efforts to meet NCA Accreditation Standards, plus any optional standards outlined.
- Supporting MDT/Advocacy Supervisor to manage, capture, and document required accreditation data, and
- Establishing systems and processes for outcomes.

- Demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)
- Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time
- Strong administrative and organizational skills; including an intermediate level knowledge/skill with Microsoft Office, Canva, DonorPerfect, and qGiv applications;
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work independently, prioritize and manage multiple needs/priorities and meet deadlines;
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and efficiency; with abilities to be proactive to longer-range agency development/fundraising needs;
- Flexible and adaptable style in high-pressure/crisis situations; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives;
- Commitment to continuous improvement, including being open to constructive criticism and feedback
- Practice effective team behavior and demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships
POSITION DUTIES/TASKS (ESTIMATED PERCENTAGE OF TIME ALLOCATED):
- 60% – Have primary responsibility for the development and executive of all Carousel grant writing, fundraising events, sponsor/donor management and post-event communications;
- 20% – Receive and process written donor correspondence, database management, appointments, and other duties as related to Carousel grants, fundraising/donations, and development;
- 10% – Construct, articulate, and implement an annual strategic fundraising/development plan;
- 5% – Research funding sources and trends, with the foresight to position Carousel Center ahead of major funding changes or trends;
- 5% — Other duties as assigned
